Lake McGregor sits in the Vulcan County foothills — a reservoir with clear water, diverse structure, and four target species that thrive in Alberta's short but intense fishing season.
The lake is big enough to hold fish year-round and small enough that local knowledge makes a real difference. You won't find this fishery on most Alberta fishing maps — and that's exactly the point.
Target Species
Northern Pike
Aggressive, hard-fighting, and plentiful. The bread and butter of Lake McGregor.
Walleye
The table fish. Evening bites produce the best Walleye action on the lake.
Lake Whitefish
Underrated fighters on light tackle. Found in the deeper structure.
Rainbow Trout
Wild fish. Best in spring and fall when water temps drop.
